This year’s Fall Career Fair is about to get underway, and Ford is showing up for the second year in a row. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , they brought a regular Mustang GT with the Black Accent Package to show off; this year, they’ve brought a pre-production F-150 Raptor and a Grabber Blue Shelby GT350.
DENSO and BMW are also gonna be at the Career Fair this semester.

Hello fellow Terp!

The truck looks like the guy who was previously Associate Vice President of Excessively Large Tailgate Lettering with Ram trucks got fired, then immediately was immediately given a job at Ford and promoted to Executive Vice President of Excessively Large Grille and Tailgate Lettering.

Where on campus is that? Over by the wind tunnel?

Yeah, they're at the lot across from Kim. Why they don’t park it closer to the events like Local Motors, I don’t know. Maybe they will move them, but I didn’t see that happen last year.

As a Purdue aero grad, tell me about this wind tunnel....

This is it.

Aerospace program is the Glen Martin (of Lockheed Martin) department. They have stupid amounts of cash so yes, their own, on campus, wind tunnel.

Damn, Ford NAILED the styling on this new F-150.

It looks great all around, and I love it from the particular angle I shot it from in that first pic.

You got me all excited, then I realized you meant the other UMD, not my alma mater, the University of Minnesota Duluth.

I was gonna ask what Ford exec brought that!
![]() 09/19/2016 at 22:00 |

Yeah, I think that more than one place uses those initials. I don’t think that this is the only College Park either, LOL.
![]() 09/19/2016 at 22:04 |

Yeah, they are the biggest two. The thing that really got me was the shot of the raptor looks like it was right outside of the Civil and Mechanical engineering buildings.

It’s something else. Like a spacial vehicle or something.
![]() 09/19/2016 at 22:08 |

I find it greatly amusing when a large-enough truck tries to park in this particular lot - the Raptor barely fits, while a larger 4-door Super Duty juts out into the parking lot if it isn’t taking up two spaces.
The Raptor has presence, that’s for sure.

You should see how trucks look in Mexico. There hasn’t been a single Raptor I have seen in the confinements of a single space.

no car companies ever came when I went there :(

One of my close friends had an Escort wagon that same color in college — in 1996. It was an LX automatic and she took it everywhere.

LOL. Yeah, despite the two(!) Terps Racing teams, automotive companies actually coming to the fair is a fairly recent development.

I don’t know, just by looking at the tailgate, I can’t tell if it’s a ford. Almost as bad as the 4' RAM on the back of those trucks. I guess I'm just old fashioned and like a clean flat tailgate. Different strokes I guess.

I think that the fat plastic piece that Ford stuck on the rear of the F-150 Raptor is fine, but the brighter ones on regular F-150s are an acquired taste. As for RAM, I don’t like the RAM lettering when it’s accompanied by that tiny chrome strip.

So you're a Terp?

Alum. Got my doctorate from the BioE department in 2011. Spent far too much time in the Kim building!

You mean like back in the 60s and 70s when they did the exact same thing?
![]() 09/20/2016 at 15:39 |
|
I'm thinking all the way back to the 90s.... I guess your right though, but the older stylings had the letters not taking up damn near the whole tailgate. My old mans late 70s ford had a nice tasteful block ford on the gate but I don't remember it being anymore than a couple inches tall. I'm more a fan of my gen II Dakota, nice clean tailgate, especially after I took the goofy ass R/T stickers off it.

Ahem...
Yes, I know I went overboard.

I just found im going to this with my company tomorrow. stop by amt engineering if you want a job in engineering

Lol. Nice. I guess nostalgia has clouded my memory. Comparing the old and the new, it's not as bad as I thought. I'm still not a fan, but different strokes for different folks.

Much bigger than the main Purdue tunnel, but we don’t have to pay anything for test time in ours.
We also have a hypersonic tunnel since that’s still heavily researched.

Sorry, I didn’t go to the fair today LOL. I had classes for the whole afternoon, though I wish I’d skipped one to go the fair instead.

Haha no worries. I drove by this lot and didn’t see the truck or mustang. Also they’re booth kind of sucked. My coworker went to psu’s fair last week and said ford had a GT in the stadium arena next to Chevys corvette on display as well

The Shelby showed up later in the afternoon today, while I haven’t seen the Raptor since yesterday. They’ve definitely been moving them around.
I’m rather annoyed that I still haven’t seen the new GT in person yet - it wasn’t at the D.C. Auto Show this year or last year, and the one that won Le Mans has been shown off at other campuses (just search Oppo).
I’ve seen a couple of i3s around campus in the past couple of days, but I’m not sure whether BMW brought them here.
